North Shore Ski & Board has been serving all your action sports needs for over 30 years!

We’ve  seen a ton of changes over the years but one thing has been  consistent… The desire to share our knowledge and set you up with quality gear for all the great sports we’re into.

History

Graham McMillan first opened the doors in 1978 as North Shore Ski Swap at our present location of 1625 Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver.

In 1985, Vince Allen sub-leased North Shore Ski Swap for the summer and started North Shore Sailboard Swap.

In 1990, Vince bought out Graham’s share and went into partnership with Brett Williams.

At this time we decided to change the shop’s name again, this time to something that spoke to the wide array of sports we cater towards, so the shop became known as North Shore Ski & Board.

On March 1st, 1998 a massive fire partially destroyed our shop and all of the inventory. It took us six months to rebuild, and we re-opened for the 1999 ski season. To “commemorate” the event, for a couple weeks in March each year we hold our Annual Fire Sale.

As a response to the growing demand for action sport and beach oriented fashions, in 2003 we opened North Shore Girl at a new location a few blocks away on Lonsdale. Simply put, the response was tremendous!

As luck would have it, or we should say lack thereof, North Shore Girl experienced a fire next door, on August 4th, 2004. We quickly relocated North Shore Girl to Cloverdale Paint’s spot right next door.

In 2006, which doubled the size of our main sales floor, giving us enough space for North Shore Girl to live right next door to the main store.

North Shore Ski & Board Today

Over the years, new sports have been added to the mix, we’ve had a chance to test all the latest greatest gear, staff members have come and gone, we’ve met tens of thousands of like-minded actionsports enthusiasts… And in doing so made a ton of friends along the way.

So be sure to think of North Shore Ski & Board the next time you’re looking for a new kiteboard, sail, snowboard, helmet, wetsuit, ski jacket, pair of goggles etc. etc. etc. … Or just want to swing by to see what’s new… It’d  be great to see you again.
